Online Gambling Lives On
The U.S. government has done it, and American online gamers are not happy about it. The United States of America has put its foot down against online gaming. Its decision rests on the premise that online casinos and especially poker rooms are drawing minors into their treacherous web. Its practical reason, of course, is the fact that online casinos are now getting a continuously bigger share of the American gamblers’ money.
Now, U.S. has penalties lined up for financial institutions that will willfully transfer American citizens’ funds to online casinos. It also frowns upon online casinos that goes against the law and accepts the registration and money of American gamblers.
This occurrence is unfortunate for the operators of online casinos. Most of their customers are U.S. citizens. As such, some online casinos have been forced to shut their operations down. Big companies and executives engaged in online gaming have fallen on hard times. There’s Calvin Ayre of Bodog.com and Peter Dicks of Sportingbet. Even Betonsports executive David Carruthers was charged with fraud and racketeering.
On their part, online gamblers from the U.S. are not too happy with the development, either. They are now looking at devious means of transferring funds to their favorite gaming sites so they can continue playing games of chance online.
The way things stand now, it is but natural for online gaming to look for a new nest. Executives of online games agree that it would take some time before they find a suitable replacement for the U.S. market. Nonetheless, online gaming is still alive in Asia and Europe. Online gaming companies will surely redirect their energies towards new and emerging regions apart from the US.
